Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO)

This nonprofit organization offers a variety of resources of relevance to state health policy, among them its State Health Policy web page, which offers reports, resources, and legislative liaisons.

CDC Guide to Community Preventive Services

Developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Community Preventive Services Task Force, The Community Guide compiles evidence-based recommendations on interventions for behavior change, disease prevention, and environmental change across more than 22 health topics.

CDC Public Health Professionals Gateway

The CDC Public Health Law Program provides law-related tools and legal technical assistance to public health practitioners and policy makers in state, tribal, local, and territorial jurisdictions.

CityHealth Policies

CityHealth, an initiative of the de Beaumont Foundation and Kaiser Permanente, rates the nation’s largest cities on these nine evidence-based policy solutions.

Council of State Governments

Best practices and policy analysis developed by the Health Policy Group to helping lawmakers identify the best health solutions for their states.

LawAtlas Project

Maintained by the Policy Surveillance Program at the Center for Public Health Law Research at Temple University, the LawAtlas uses legal mapping to capture important features of laws and policies and how they vary across jurisdictions, institutions, and time.

NACCHO Toolbox

Compiled by the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), the NACCHO toolbox is a free, online collection of public health tools that have been created and shared by members of the public health community.

NASHP Policy Strategies

The National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP) is a nonprofit organization consisting of a forum of policymakers throughout state governments. A searchable compilation of innovative state strategies to address health policy challenges is available on its website.

National Conference of State Legislatures

NCSL’s web site provides health reports and updates on more than 40 topics.

National Governors Association

Resources developed by NGA Health, a division of NGA that serves as a think tank consultancy for governors and their staff in five focus areas: behavioral health and social determinants of health, data and analytics, health care workforce, health system transformation and value and public health.

Take Action to Improve Health
